Outlook Festival 2012 Producer Competition

Music Contest Info:

Outlook, Europe’s biggest bass music and soundsystem culture festival held in Croatia are looking for music producers to upload an original production that you could imagine being played at the festival. To enter upload your track making sure that you name the track ‘YOUR NAME – Outlook Festival 2012 Competition Entry’, tag it with ‘Outlook Competition 2012′ then use the Outlook Festival Producers competition artwork as your cover art which can be downloaded from here.

Prize:

1st place receives an all-expenses paid trip to the 2012 Outlook Festival in Croatia which includes: a return flight to the festival (or up to £250 contribution towards travel, whichever is lesser), airport transfers and ten dub-plates of their winning tune plus a G-SPEED Q, courtesy of G- Technology by Hitachi, and an Impulse 61 complete with gig bag from Novation. Two runners up will also win two tickets to this year’s Outlook Festival each and, courtesy of G- Technology by Hitachi, a G-DRIVE Slim.

Rules:

Applicants must be 18 years or older. The prize is up to £250 towards travel and so this could leave people who are a long distance away from Croatia with money left to pay to attend. The festival is a bass music festival so they are looking for tracks that would be played at the festival. Producer’s must gain over 500 plays to be considered to progress from Round 1 and later on producer’s must then gain over 100 favourites to be considered for the short list.

Counting Crows Cover Song Contest

Indaba Music and Counting Crows want to hear your best cover version of a Counting Crow song. There are prizes from Squier and Guitar Center for the three winners as well as each making it onto a EP which will be released to fans for free. Here's a Counting Crows YouTube video...

Prize:

There will be three grand prize winners chosen by The Counting Crows who each have their cover included on the covers EP which will be distributed to fans for free. Receive a $600 gift card to guitar Center and receive a signed Squier guitar. The popular vote winner also gets a Squier guitar.

Open to individuals over the age of 13 years. Void in the province of Quebec. The winning entries license to Collective Records, LLC, the copyrights in the sound recording. Show Me the Music 2012 Songwriting Contest

Show Me the Music songwriting contest is back for 2012 and you can enter submit your songs online or through the mail, the entry details are on this page. Songs will be judged on melody, song structure, originality, and lyrics and will not be judged on production quality or vocals. Here is the video for the 2011 winning song.

Prize:

There are two prize packages which you can choose from. Package A is $10,000 USD, Broadjam Primo Mob Membership, featured spot on Show Me the Music website, 500 fully packaged CDs of the winning song by Copycats Media, Show Me the Music T-shirt and certificate. Package B is $3,000 USD to use towards airfare, hotel and spending money for full day recording session at the Castle Recording Studio in Franklin, TN. Nashville "A" list studio musicians to record the winning song, fully mixed and mastered CD of the winning song, mentor session and more.

Rules:

Contest has an entry fee of $30 for the first song or $20 for additional songs after the first.. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Entrants retain all ownership rights to every song submitted. Open to all amateur and professional songwriters.

The Yamaha 6 String Theory Guitar Competition

To enter you have to upload two YouTube videos which are no longer than 5 minutes long showing you "playing with your band, a solo arrangement, duet performance, or any other performance that showcases your skills as a guitarist." There are 6 categories which are Rock, Blues, Jazz/Fusion, Country, Acoustic and Classical/Flamenco. 36 semi-finalists will be chosen (6 in each category).who will all be awarded a full scholarship to attend and compete in a National Guitar Workshop in Summer 2012.

Prize:

The grand prize winning musician will win a Yamaha guitar (acoustic, classical, or electric), a guitar endorsement from Yamaha Guitars, $1,000 worth of gear from D'Addario String Company and/or Planet Waves accessories, a Monster endorsement plus Monster "Beats by Dre" Headphones, featured artist slot in the 2013 National Guitar Workshop Clinic Tour, a seven day vacation stay at the Flathead Lake Lodge (up to 2 persons total) in Bigfork, Montana and a possible recording contract opportunity from Concord Records. there are also prizes for the 1st to 5th place runner up.

Rules:

Semi finalists have to travel to either Connecticut or Texas for the semifinals (travel not included). Must be aged 16 years or older at time of entry. An entrant may not be a professional guitarist and may not be signed to any labels or management. Concord shall have the exclusive right (but not the obligation) for a period of 6 months to enter into an exclusive recording agreement with any of the six finalists.

Ultra Music Festival & AERIAL7 DJ Contest

Create a mix in the style you prefer to play (The Ultra Music Festival covers everything from house to techno, dubstep to hip hop). Then upload your mix which can be no more than 30 minutes long to MixCloud, making sure you tag your mix with "Ultra Music Festival & AERIAL7 DJ Competition" and include the cover art.

Prize:

A 60 minute set at Ultra Music Festival in March 2012, your winning mix broadcast live on UMF Radio (SiriusXM), two 3-day passes to the festival for you and a friend, return flights for the DJ and accommodation in Miami, a pair of AERIAL7 A-List Series headphones and an official Ultra Music Festival merchandise goodie bag.

17th Annual USA Songwriting Competition

To enter submit your song of 5 minutes or less in length along with a completed entry form, lyric sheet and entry fee.

Prize:

The grand prize winner receives $50,000 USD worth of cash, merchandise and services. 2nd place wins $9,000 worth of merchandise and 3rd place wins $6,500 worth of merchandise. For each of the 15 categories the 1st placed winner will receive $2,200 worth of merchandise and 20 honorable mention winners will each receive $350 worth of merchandise.
