Soniccouture Crowd-Choir Project

Music Contest Info:

Soniccouture are building a unique sampler instrument using choir/vocal sounds from all around the world and they need a minimum of 2000 vocal notes to build it. This is where you can come in because if you record a sample of you singing "Aahhh" and submit it to them then you can stand a chance of winning the Mbira and also everyone that enters receives a copy of the instrument for free. There is a guide pitch on the page to help you hit the right note and form to upload your vocal sample.

Prize:

One participant chosen at random will receive the custom-made, 5 octave cherry-wood mbira plus everybody that sends Soniccouture a recorded note will receive the CrowdChoir instrument free, in Kontakt /EXS & Ableton Live format.

Rules:

The Mbira will be shipped free of charge to the winner. Files must be either WAV, AIFF or MP3 format. Individual Files must be under 10MB.

Sonoma Wire Works Riffrumble 18 Song Contest

Music Contest Info:

Submit original songs which have the theme and your interpretion of "Love" using RiffWorks Standard v2.6.7, RiffWorks T4 v2.6.7, or FourTrack to record your entry. Riffwork T4 can be downloaded for free from here. Complete entries need to be sent to Riffworld using the Riffcast ability of the software making sure you include the tag name riffrumble18.

Prize:

The 1st prize winner as chosen by Lorenz Rychner (Editor of Recording Magazine) receives a Taylor GS Mini Guitar, Taylor ES-Go Pick Up, 1 year subscription to Recording Magazine 1 Year Subscription, "Recording the Electric Guitar" by Jon Bare, Recording Coffee Mug, GuitarJack iOS Interface, CableJive dockXtender Dock Extender Cable and your choice of $1000 worth of Sonoma software. There are also prizes for 2nd place as chosen by contestants and 3rd place as chosen by the public.

Rules:

You can use any third party applications, however you must use RiffWorks T4 (free), RiffWorks Standard or the FourTrack iPhone app to record the entry. You have to be prepared to submit a .rws file as proof that Riffworks was used to record. Entrants must be over 13 years of age.

Counting Crows Cover Song Contest

Indaba Music and Counting Crows want to hear your best cover version of a Counting Crow song. There are prizes from Squier and Guitar Center for the three winners as well as each making it onto a EP which will be released to fans for free. Here's a Counting Crows YouTube video...

Prize:

There will be three grand prize winners chosen by The Counting Crows who each have their cover included on the covers EP which will be distributed to fans for free. Receive a $600 gift card to guitar Center and receive a signed Squier guitar. The popular vote winner also gets a Squier guitar.

Rules:

Open to individuals over the age of 13 years. Void in the province of Quebec. The winning entries license to Collective Records, LLC, the copyrights in the sound recording. Guitar Center: Your Next Record with T-Pain & Young Fyre

To enter this opportunity you need to register on Whooznxt and then submit a video that is no longer than 7 minutes in length. Your video should be of a performance of an original track which has been written by the entrant. This track must fall within the Rap, Hip-Hop, Funk, Soul or R&B genres. You'll also need to grow your fan base throughout the duration of the contest as the judging panel will be paying extra attention.

Prize:

The winner gets a 3 song EP produced by Young Fyre (Producer of T-Pain's rEVOLVEr album who has worked with Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Mario, Busta Rhymes, Ace Hood and Travie McCoy). T-PAIN will write and produce your single. The Yamaha 6 String Theory Guitar Competition

Music Contest Info:

To enter you have to upload two YouTube videos which are no longer than 5 minutes long showing you "playing with your band, a solo arrangement, duet performance, or any other performance that showcases your skills as a guitarist." There are 6 categories which are Rock, Blues, Jazz/Fusion, Country, Acoustic and Classical/Flamenco. 36 semi-finalists will be chosen (6 in each category).who will all be awarded a full scholarship to attend and compete in a National Guitar Workshop in Summer 2012.

Prize:

The grand prize winning musician will win a Yamaha guitar (acoustic, classical, or electric), a guitar endorsement from Yamaha Guitars, $1,000 worth of gear from D'Addario String Company and/or Planet Waves accessories, a Monster endorsement plus Monster "Beats by Dre" Headphones, featured artist slot in the 2013 National Guitar Workshop Clinic Tour, a seven day vacation stay at the Flathead Lake Lodge (up to 2 persons total) in Bigfork, Montana and a possible recording contract opportunity from Concord Records. there are also prizes for the 1st to 5th place runner up.

Rules:

Semi finalists have to travel to either Connecticut or Texas for the semifinals (travel not included). Must be aged 16 years or older at time of entry. An entrant may not be a professional guitarist and may not be signed to any labels or management. Concord shall have the exclusive right (but not the obligation) for a period of 6 months to enter into an exclusive recording agreement with any of the six finalists.
