The prize for September is $5000 for the grand prize winner of the month (this is from across all channels/genres) and a $100 for the winner from each genre. There is also a $1000 Grand Prize for a Video too. There is also the chance to get your music promoted on MTV's website.

To enter this music contest, you need to register as an OurStage Artist and then upload your music into the correct genre. There is the chance to enter multiple songs per month.

Sign up for an artist account on OurStage and upload your own tracks into the best suited category such as HipHop, Electronica, Ambient/Chill, Blues, Country, Rock and more. Listeners will vote on which track they prefer out of two using either the OurStage website or even the OurStage iPhone App. You get some good promotion for your music as it puts your track in front of listeners for them to decide how much they like your track, so it is well worth it to see which of your own track are liked the most.

The grand prize winner will be offered a joint venture agreement with SongCircle Music/EMI covering recorded music, music publishing aswell as other activites, $10,000, a Gibson songwriter deluxe guitar, performances at various places and a 10 hour recording session. 2nd place wins $3,000, Martin LX guitar plus a performance at a song circle showcase. 3rd place wins $1,500 and a performance.

You need to be a member of SongCircle which costs $49.95 for a years membership and includes upto 2 entries into the contest. Open only to amateur and professional songwriters/recording artists who are not currently signed to an exclusive recording agreement.

'Nicky’s Film', a black and white film Abel Ferrara made in 1971 with friend and then colleague Nicodemo Oliverio has no audio. You've got to add the music, sounds and dialog for the film. The submitted films will be judged by Abel Ferrara and his creative team. You can also re-invent the film by adding new footage to it. Originally posted on our sister site Film Comps but I've listed it hear too as it may also be of interest to people interested in sound design in films.

One grand prize winner will receive Ten (10) Beta Monkey discs of your choice, three Runner-Up Prizes: Three (3) Beta Monkey discs of your choice.
